This week in humanities we continued studying the effects of World War I, and next week we’ll learn how many of those effects were also causes of World War II. Students are finishing their 20th Century Wars essay and, having finished Night by Elise Wiesel, have started Number the Stars by Lowis Lowry. We had a great time seeing each other in person last Friday! As a group we rearranged the classroom and came up with our schedule for in-person Fridays, which I’ll type and send out next week.

This week in Mathtivity, students continued their work on analyzing group roles and practicing group work. They also studied math groupings while they were at it! In health class, students learned about different gender identities and discussed self care.

In Humanities, students discussed Treaties, Trenches, Mud, and Blood, which they finished last week, and are writing essays about now. We also prepared to read Night by Elise Wiesel. Next week will be the beginning of the World Wars unit.

On Tuesday we read and listened to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech instead of our normal morning poem, and students had their 2nd health class in which they discussed self care during the pandemic.
