Thank you to everyone who donated money or books towards our reading curriculum this year! After finishing Bread and Roses, Too by Katherine Paterson, we’ll be reading the following five books: One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams Garcia, Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales Treaties, Trenches, Mud, and Blood, All But My Life by Gerda Weissman Klein, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, and A Kid’s Guide to America’s Bill of Rights by Kathleen Krull. As always, these books align with our Humanities curriculum for the year. Starting on Monday and going until December break we’ll be studying Social Justice & Civil Rights in the 20th Century. From January through April break we’ll study 20th Century Wars & Atrocities, and then we’ll finish the year with a unit about Government and Politics. It will be such a great experience to explore these important topics with the students!
