Thank you everyone who made food for and attended last week’s open house! We had some left over pizza after the event, so we let the kids eat it while reading a poem about cold pizza during writing time the next morning.😂

Bummed you missed our last open house? Not to worry, we have four throughout the school year! Our next open house will be on Wednesday, February 12th from 6 until 7:30pm.

Coming to an open house is a great way for prospective families to see the building and meet the teachers, other families, and students. We provide pizza from Turners Falls Pizza House, and current families bring other dinner foods, snacks, drinks, or desserts! School News

This week in science class students studied and made food webs, and in humanities we continued our conversation about standard of living in workers rights. Students also completed Creative Writing 2 and should be about 2/3 way through Lyddie by Katherine Patterson. Next biweekly they will start Research Paper 2, which can be about any topic we’ve studied in our afternoon classes over the last month.

Pictured, students create their own food webs in science class!

Calendars

If you haven’t yet purchased a 2020 calendar with photography by local photographer Rachel Roy and haikus by Four Winds Students, send us an email or check out Rachel’s page on Facebook! We’ve already sold about half of our stock, so if you are planning to give them as holiday presents you may want to purchase them sooner rather than later!

Upcoming Dates and Events

Safety events this week: On Monday, state and local police will be coming to school to talk with the kids about school safety and lead a lock down drill. On Tuesday, the Gill Fire Department will be coming to lead a presentation about fire safety and show the kids a fire engine!

LGBTQ+ Workshop, Friday, November 22nd at 1:30pm: Tracy from Boston PFLAG will be our visitor for “field trip Friday” on the Friday before November break. She will lead a workshop and discussion on inclusion and other LGBTQ+ issues for students and interested family members.
