School News

At Four Winds School we like to spend our first day at the Morse Hill Outdoor Education Center to work on team building and group development. As always, we had a blast playing group games, and doing challenges on the low and high ropes courses.

When conditions allow, we like to spend our second day canoeing at Tully Lake in Royalston, MA. As in other years, the kids enjoyed canoeing, swimming, and exploring the islands. We got a little chilly after lunch and decided to spend our afternoon playing at Unity Park in Turners Falls. What a great way to start the school year!

Upcoming Events

Monday, Sept. 9, 2019: Family Meet’n’Greet
After school on Monday we will have our 2nd Annual Family Meet’n’Greet! The Meet’n’Greet is a great way to meet all the teachers and other families, as well as learn about our upcoming community and fundraising events from the Parents’ Organization! Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019: Environmental Science Guest David Boles
We’ll have our first of three environmental science guests come to visit during science class on Thursday. David Boles, our regional coordinator for the Green River Clean Up, will be coming to talk to the kids about conservation and what the clean up day will be like. We’re very excited to welcome into our classroom and think the kids will really like him.

Friday, Sept. 13, 2019: Field Trip to Historic Deerfield
On Friday we will be going on a field trip to Historic Deerfield to learn how people of the 1700s made linen from flax seed. This will help give context to our humanities curriculum about the 1800s, specifically about how and why the industrialization revolutionized the textile industry. We should be back at the school for pick up time at 3:30.

Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019: Car Wash Fundraiser
Our first fund raising / community event of the year will be this Saturday from 11-2 at the school!
