School News

This week students transitioned from learning about the history of textiles (and why we should upcycle them!) to starting to make new seat covers. In humanities class, students have completed the research for their Black History Month poster projects and have started to make their posters, which will be on display at Wednesday’s open house. Stay tuned in to our Facebook page this week to see more pictures of both projects!
In science on Thursday, students compared three types of soil: clay, silt, and sand.
On Friday, Alethea‘s “Mathtivity” was about the powers of 10. Students watched this video to help put the concept in context:

Later in the day, local environmental activist Montserrat Archbald came in to do an environmental science workshop with the kids about plastic and how she lives a zero-waste lifestyle.
