School News

It seems as though there was an upswing in motivation this week! Between April Break and this week’s work and projects, we added 212 beans to the jar! 103 were for projects, creative writing, and noticings, and 109 were for completed academic assignments. We’re getting pretty close to filling it up, and I think we could earn our party by Fun Week if folks keep participating at this rate!
In science, students learned about classifying plants and filled out an accompanying worksheet. This week’s mathtivity was about rates, and skills workshop this week focused on the social rules of group texts, which is a new medium for many students. The optional baking project was Banana Cream Pie, and the optional gardening activity was a nature mandala. Also, several students have joined me in writing a cooperative story for creative writing in the mornings.
This week’s humanities lesson was the companion to the timeline students were mailed over April Break, in which students learned about the Reconstruction Period and awful Jim Crow Laws that followed. Here are some of the timelines that folks completed at home!
