School News

The building has finally received it’s long-awaited and much-needed paint job! This dark green is the building’s original color before it was repainted the familiar light green more recently. It looks great!
The painting was completed by the Franklin County Sherrif’s Office “Community Service Crew.” We will be talking about prison labor with the kids this year as we study slavery in historical contexts as well as how it manifests in today’s societies. We also plan to have the kids send thank you notes to the crew for doing such a wonderful job.

Walkathon: postponed, but still on!

Due to scheduling conflicts, walkathon to benefit the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will be postponed until after the school year starts, but we do still plan to have it. Stay tuned!

Summer Writing and Art Camp

The summer camp registration deadline is on July 15th, and we have 4 spots left! If you know any kids who want to sign up (cousins, neighbors, children-of-friends, etc.) send them our way! Camp runs from Monday, July 22nd until Friday, July 26th from 9am until 3pm daily. More information can be found on our website. We will be sending an email to enrolled campers’ families later this week with details and information you’ll need.

July Open House/Eloise’s Moving-on Party

  • Our July Open House will be on Saturday, July 27th at 7:30. As always, we’ll provide pizza from Turners Falls Pizza House, and other potluck contributions are always welcome. If you’re new, please be advised that Four Winds is a nut free building due to a life-threatening food allergy.
  • Open houses are a great opportunity for the kids to socialize during the summer, for alumni to come back and visit, and for parents to talk with each other and the teachers. If you have any prospective families to bring along, please do so, as they’re a great way to introduce new people to our school!
  • This open house will be particularly special because it will also be Eloise’s moving-on party. In addition to the aforementioned pizza, we’ll also have cake! This will be a great opportunity to hear all about her new job teaching algebra in Hinsdale, NH and to wish her luck on this next step in her life!
  • The party will go on until dark (around 9) when the Franklin County Boat Club puts on its awesome “Christmas in July” light and firework show over the water. It’s going to be a really fun event and we hope to see you there! Please RSVP to (and share!) our event on Facebook so we can get a sense of how much pizza and cake to acquire.
