Four Winds School welcomes students in 6th through 8th grade of any race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. Please note that as a small non-profit organization, we do not necessarily have the resources to meet certain behavioral or academic challenges. However, we are happy to (and frequently do) work with students’ home school district to ensure that their specific needs are met. Please scroll down to read about our application process, and feel free to reach out to us at with any questions.

Four Winds School Application Process

1. Interview

An interview gives you and your student an opportunity to meet the teachers, tour the building, learn in more detail about our program, and ask any questions you may have. It is also an opportunity for the teachers to start to get to know your student.

2. Visiting Day

If Four Winds appears to be a good placement for your student, the next step in the application process is for them to spend a day at school. This allows us and the prospective student to see if Four Winds will be a good fit. We will schedule the visiting day at or after the interview, and let you know everything you need to know about your student spending a day at Four Winds School. (Unfortunately if the application process occurs after our academic year ends, we must skip this important step.)

3. Applications

The parent/guardian application,  student application, and optional financial aid application may be completed before or after the interview and visiting day. Some families want to find out if they can afford the program before sending their student to visit. (Full tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is $17,400. Click here to apply for financial aid.) Others would rather wait to fill out the application forms until after seeing if the school is a good fit. Either order is fine!

4. Records Release

Please fill out and send our School Records Release Form to your current school. You will have to find out from them where to send it and in what format. This form will permit them to share information and records about your student with us, which is required in order for them to complete Recommendation Forms below.

5. Recommendations

Once your school’s office has acknowledged receipt of the school records release form, please have your student’s main classroom/homeroom teacher and school guidance counselor fill out the following recommendation forms. They should email the completed forms to us at These forms will help us in determining if your student is a good fit for Four Winds School, and if Four Winds School is a good fit for your student.

If your student is currently homeschooled, reach out to us and we will discuss alternative recommendation options. For example, a therapist may fill out the Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form, and a coach, scout leader, extra curricular instructor, camp counselor, or religious leader may fill out the Teacher Recommendation form.
